City of Snohomish;
Dear Mr.Gipson,
ip?
trtesITeeT::ZeV'tr==rt2: "i"t""c'si"
f
a=°Z.V.I'en=:;e:=1"1247T-w2:rt:Tri-4 Zr=a=TXT,1, ,
were going to have a study session on water contracts.
Sher.,Rf-,er a...m..4 sp position in January,I tried to arrange mezt_
ings with employees of the City of Everett and was told that they were
. working on the total problem and would contact us when they were ready to
meet.
, As of this date I have never had the OPPertunirY te sit down ..hher
. administrative or elected representatives of the City of Everett to
cuss or negotiate purchase of water by the City of Snohomish.
I am sure that had members of the Snohomish City Council been invited to
your meeting that they would have been there. Had I been aware of what
was to take place I would have tried to be better prepared.
In view of the Above,I would like to request that the Everet'City Council
delay any action on the Water Rate Ordinance until after the two cities
have had further discussion on the proposed charge.
Thank you for any consideration you may giVe of request.
s/Larry L.Smith
Paul Shinoda,councilman from the city of Snohomish,felt the city had not
shown good faiah.in their dealings with Snohomish. He felt they had not
been given notrce that a contract would be authorized at the last meeting
and if they had been,all of the councilmen would have been there to dis-
cuss it with the city of Everett.
Councilman Baker thoaght that the staff bad come to the council for a long
range policy on water rates but that it had turned into a discussion on
the Snohomish water contract only.
Councilman Aldcroft felt the council was doing the right thing for the
city of Snohomish In their action at the last meeting and also said he had
asked the administration to work with the different water districts and
other entities on proposed water rates.
President Gipson said he was sure there would be more meetings between the
two entities prior to the signing of the contract.
•
