Councilman Langus spoke against the motion,stating he felt multiple family projects should be spread out throughout the City rather than all in one area. He considered these housing units to be in the best interest of the average wage earner as they were in a medium priced range. Councilman Pope concurred with the motion as he felt the developer had not proven that conditions were changed or that it was in the best interest of the health,welfare and safety of the citizens to have the area rezoned. Councilman Baker said there had been several multiple family rezones in the south end in recent months. /f there was need for multiple family zoning,this should be studied and not just suddenly rezone an area already zoned R-1 to provide Ellis need. She agreed with Council- man Pope on the proponents not providing the necessary information as the law states. , • Roll was called on the motion to concur with the Planning Commission with Councilmen Pope,Baker a.Overstreet voting yes,Councilmen Langus, • Michelson and Alacroft voting no,and Councilman Gipson excused. . . Motion Lost. Moved by Councilman Michelson,seconded by Councilman Langus,to direct , the City Attorney to prepare an ordinance to rezone the property with an additional width being added to the conditions for the aCces5 street. Roll was called with Councilmen Langus,Michelson and Aldcroft voting yes,and Councilmen Pope,Baker and Overstreet voting no,and Councilman ,. Gipson excused. . Motion Lost.
