Motion Carried , ARTS CENTER STUDY REPORT Bob Burke gave a brief report on the study to develop an Everett - civic center which would combine the performing arts,a museum and art exhibit space. He explained the methods and data used as a baeie for this study and search for a recommended site. He spoke of the need for a 700-eeat theater,museum,meeting rooms 46.13 and public space. Ne site selection process produced a list of 28,which was narrowed to 4,after it was determined that it should f: be located in the down-teem area. oh PrNe sites include property next to e Masonic Temple,half-block on Hoyt between California and Hewitt,several sites near the Everett Public Library and perhaps one next to City Hall. Construction costs would be approximately 6 to 7-1/2 million dollars. He also spoke of the projected revenues aud operating cost.ami soUrces to auPPort I : Ne facility. Chris Little,CheMber of Commerce President,spoke of the ' cooperative efforts of those working on Chia study. He commented that he felt the center would generate more revenue than the study showed. Enthusiasm is running high on this project and several group members have determined to go out and raise aubstantial , dolla.rs to build the center. The chamber and committee will pursue . the study further to bring it into better focus wiN more detail " before proceeding further. Mayor Moore said that the study authorised for the City has indicated that firms wishing to relocate do look at the chlture of a city,and Everett's culture does need to be developed. He then presented Mr.Little with the first copy of the"Everett Commonity Dennis Derickson,of the Planning Department,said they will be working with the Chamber to distribute these portfolios.
