443 December 14,1983 COUNCIL COMMENTS Councilman Overstreet spoke on the Thoresen-peteraon Planning Group meeting held yesterday and the distribution of a booklet high- lighting their report for the private sector. He asked about the workshop to be held next week on the hotel-motel tax increase and President Pope said it would be scheduled on the 21st but wee not sure of the time right now. Councilman Overstreet then announced that the Traffic Safety Commission was working on legislature regarding DWI's and more information would be forthcoming. PRESIDENT'S COMMENTS 1 President Pope announced that agenda iteme 111 atd 62 would be heard after cititen comments as several Council members had to be excused to attend funerals. The°Discuss and Decide.items would be discussed after these two items. CITIZEN COMMENTS John Millenaar,of 6713-40th St.N.H.,Marysville,spoke of his concerns of zoning violatione in regards to the Women's Feminist Health Clinic. He felt when the use changed for that building from a professional office to e clinic that the City's off-street peeking requirements were not met. He also had written a letter to the Council rhgarding these issues. Bruce Jones,City Attorney, said the letter had been reviewed and referred to the toning official. Jim Lengus,Administrative staff member,asked Dennis Derickson, Planning Director,to meet with Mr.Mille...ear and keep Council informed on thie matter. Ed RUhatino.of 2613 Taylor,reported about the flow control ordinatce that was introduced before County Council last week with a public hearing scheduled for December 21st at 10.00 a.m. He said 1 this ordinance would control all solld waste generated and collected in the unincorporated areas of the County,but the County will be coming to cities to adopt a solid waste plan,therefore we will all be effected tar this ordinance. President...me suggested that Mr. Rubatino write a letter to 1984 Council President Stephenson,who will put it on the agenda for direction. Bruce Jones commetted that he had written an opinion on the legal aepect of a re-cycling program being implemented in the state, but did not address any cost consideration. George Wasyluka,of 3203 Rockefeller,speaking for himself and his neighbors,voiced concerns of terrorism in the neighborhood with regards to the Feminist Women's Clinic. He asked for police surveillance in light of the recent bombing and harassment by picketers while walking to and from their homes. President Pope said he would refer this matter to the Chief of Police and Mayor Moore said that additional surveillance had been added but commented that these people were operating under the law. However, the City was doing its best to give the citizens a more secure feeling.
