443 <br /> December 14,1983 <br /> COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> Councilman Overstreet spoke on the Thoresen-peteraon Planning Group <br /> meeting held yesterday and the distribution of a booklet high- <br /> lighting their report for the private sector. <br /> He asked about the workshop to be held next week on the hotel-motel <br /> tax increase and President Pope said it would be scheduled on the <br /> 21st but wee not sure of the time right now. <br /> Councilman Overstreet then announced that the Traffic Safety <br /> Commission was working on legislature regarding DWI's and more <br /> information would be forthcoming. <br /> PRESIDENT'S COMMENTS <br /> 1 <br /> President Pope announced that agenda iteme 111 atd 62 would be heard <br /> after cititen comments as several Council members had to be <br /> excused to attend funerals. The°Discuss and Decide.items would <br /> be discussed after these two items. <br /> CITIZEN COMMENTS <br /> John Millenaar,of 6713-40th St.N.H.,Marysville,spoke of his <br /> concerns of zoning violatione in regards to the Women's Feminist <br /> Health Clinic. He felt when the use changed for that building from <br /> a professional office to e clinic that the City's off-street <br /> peeking requirements were not met. He also had written a letter to <br /> the Council rhgarding these issues. Bruce Jones,City Attorney, <br /> said the letter had been reviewed and referred to the toning official. <br /> Jim Lengus,Administrative staff member,asked Dennis Derickson, <br /> Planning Director,to meet with Mr.Mille...ear and keep Council <br /> informed on thie matter. <br /> Ed RUhatino.of 2613 Taylor,reported about the flow control <br /> ordinatce that was introduced before County Council last week with <br /> a public hearing scheduled for December 21st at 10.00 a.m. He said 1 <br /> this ordinance would control all solld waste generated and collected <br /> in the unincorporated areas of the County,but the County will be <br /> coming to cities to adopt a solid waste plan,therefore we will all <br /> be effected tar this ordinance. President...me suggested that Mr. <br /> Rubatino write a letter to 1984 Council President Stephenson,who <br /> will put it on the agenda for direction. <br /> Bruce Jones commetted that he had written an opinion on the legal <br /> aepect of a re-cycling program being implemented in the state, <br /> but did not address any cost consideration. <br /> George Wasyluka,of 3203 Rockefeller,speaking for himself and his <br /> neighbors,voiced concerns of terrorism in the neighborhood with <br /> regards to the Feminist Women's Clinic. He asked for police <br /> surveillance in light of the recent bombing and harassment by <br /> picketers while walking to and from their homes. President Pope <br /> said he would refer this matter to the Chief of Police and <br /> Mayor Moore said that additional surveillance had been added but <br /> commented that these people were operating under the law. However, <br /> the City was doing its best to give the citizens a more secure <br /> feeling. <br />
