138 <br /> Apel 11,1984 <br /> The regular meeting of the Everett City Councal was called co ori <br /> at BOO a.m.,April 11,1904,in the Council Chambers of the Everett <br /> City Hall,President Stephenson presiding. Upon roll call it was <br /> found that mayor Moore and all Councilmen were in attendance. <br /> Minutes of the meeting held April 4,1904,were approved as printed. <br /> STREET CLOSURE REQUEST <br />[31.! Michael Holtzinger,Pastor of Valley View Baptist Church,spoke in <br /> support of the appeal to allow a community passion play in the area <br /> 1:" around the Courthouse end felt this would generate positive feelings <br /> in the community. He assured Council there was absolutely no <br /> connnection between the play and demonstrations concerning.e <br /> abortion clinic. <br /> Police Chief Al Shelstad said,although he agreed it would be a <br /> : positive thing,he was recommending that it be held in a different <br /> location and that thu street closure be denied. He felt this action <br /> would best maintain the rights and safety of all citizens in the <br /> community. <br /> President Stephenson asked if it was possible to select another eite <br /> and Pastor Holtzinger replied he felt it would be all but impossible ' <br /> 4' at change at this late date. <br /> Chief Shelsted commented that he had discussed this matter with the <br /> County and they had denied permission to use county property but can <br /> not stop them from being on Publ.Progevbf. <br /> f=rOnttitZ'r:Vo'ntsh:o=To'tdgIveleneZen:i.' <br /> Mayor Moore said he would like to see the play held anywhere else <br /> in the City but not in this p.ticular area and recommended that <br /> the appeal be denied. <br /> Moved by Councilman Pope,seconded by Councilman Michelson,that,in <br /> the interest of public safety a.the recommendations of the Police <br /> Department and Administration,the request be denied,but that every <br />: effort be made to cooperate with them if there is another area which <br /> would be acceptable to hold the passion play. <br /> r lIt=1:.xt=ZU°:g=hwrseL:-icrraTt; <br /> Nalbie Livingston,of 6414 Cady Road,felt supporters of the Women, <br /> Clinic were being harassed by people from other cities. <br /> Roll was celled with all Councilmen voting Yes• <br /> Motion Carried <br /> MAYOR'S COMMENTS <br /> Mayor Moore reported that Councilman Overstreet had asked about the <br /> street repair program and how particular streets were chosen as he <br /> felt there were others that should have received higher priority. <br /> 4 <br />
