IApril11,1984 143 : <br /> Him Seaton-Thies,of 11415 26th Dr.S.E.,concurred with Mr. <br /> Patchett's svmarks and urged Council to uPgrade Silver Lake <br /> park by pasring the parking lot and relocating the road. She <br /> said she supported the proposed tex on gembiing. <br /> peter Newland,of 1715 Grand,said he agreed with the Chamber's <br /> recommendations. He urged care and caution before raising taxes <br /> on utilities as he felt there would be detrimental impacts on <br /> business and industry such as Scott Paper and Boeing. <br /> Walt Leavitt,owner of Grove Tavern,objected to a raise in <br /> gambling tax and felt this would result in employees being laid <br /> off and an increase in Prioe for food and beverages. <br /> Bob Boyer,of Enumclaw and President of State Licens.Beverage <br /> Association,pointed out an increase in tax does not always <br /> increase revenues. Alphough he was opposed to an incavase,he <br /> suggested a moderate one rather than the 58 proposed. :3 <br /> Viola Oursler,of 551 Eilchuck Path,also ePoho on tho ot.hoo <br /> of Project Pride and pointed out the numbers applying for help <br /> would certainly increase if utility taxes were raised. <br /> Tom Anglin,of 10805 Lakeview Dr.,Lake Stevens,pointed out <br /> potential revenues that could be derived from tournaments if <br /> facilities were available in Evezett. He urged Council to raise 4',4,4 <br /> the gambling tax to fund the City's needed projects. ,„ <br /> r, <br /> Al Shelstad,Police Chief,reported when the state legalized - <br /> gemhling one of the purposes was to stimulate businees.
