Councilman Overstreet arrived at 8:55 a.m. COUNCIL COMMENTS(continued) Councilman Gipson stated that he Telt there needed clarification on Ordinance No. 1785-91, regarding Council salaries,that was adopted at last week's meeting. He stated he had no selfish motives in proposing the change In the annual increases in Councilmembers' salaries. Hes aid the current o method is very cumbersome and not compatibleto city salaries and the city financial situation as a whole. The new method, which does not go into effect until January 1, 1994, is a osier way to compute the increase and is more equitable for the councilmembers. He felt that it was implied that he was proposing this method of determining annual increases for personal gain. n the twenty years that he has beena ember of the council, he has given his / time forlove of community and not'or personal gain.
