The Park <br /> Commission held a public hearing regarding this and no one <br /> attending was in opposition. <br /> Anne Robison and Jessie Roebuck, representing the NE Everett <br /> Community Organization spoke in favor of the name change. <br /> The resolution is as follows: <br /> WHEREAS, the Northeast Neighborhood residents petitioned the <br /> City to rename Riverdale Park in honor of the late U.S. Senator <br /> Hen,m,Jackson,and <br /> WHEREAS, it is the function of the Parks and Recreation <br /> Commission to recommend names for parks to the City Council for <br /> their approval,and <br /> C <br /> e riPnagrks eetnidngRacreation Commission heard testimony at <br /> on November 12,1991,and <br /> WHEREAS, the Jackson Family were contacted and approved the <br /> name change of Riverdale Park in recognition of their husband , <br /> and father,Henry M.Jackson,and <br /> WHEREAS, at the public meeting of November 26, 1991, the <br /> Commission approved the request to rename Riverdale Park, <br /> Senator Henry M.Jackson Park, <br /> NOV, THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br /> OF EVERETT that Riverdale Park be renamed Senator Henry M. <br /> Jackson Park. <br /> Roll was called with all councilmen voting yes except <br /> Councilmen Anderson and Pope who were excused. <br /> Motion carried. <br />
