125 <br /> April 8,1992 <br /> 0 <br /> EVERETT AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE YEAR END REPORT <br /> Mayor Kinch introduced Karen Charnell, Everett Area Chamber of <br /> Commerce, who gave a brief report on the 1991 activities and <br /> efforts by the Chamber. She reported that ads have been placed <br /> in the 1992 Destination Washington and 1992 Cascade Loop Guide, <br /> as well as a number of other.broch,mes and maps. Promotion of <br /> Everett and public relations are a large part of the Chamber's <br /> responsibilities. The Chamber has focused on convention <br /> eTTeetiVenesa. Approximately 52.5 million will be generated by <br /> conventions that will be held In Everett from 1992 thru 1995. <br /> She requested that one of her reports be a work session so that <br /> Council could asked questions and express concerns. <br /> I COUNCIL COMENTS <br /> Councilman Overstreet shared that he had attended a Growth <br /> Management session in Orange County, California, over the past <br /> weekend. There were people from all walks of life involved, <br /> from lawyers to citizen activists. He saw unsuccessful, as <br /> well as successful examples of growth management. Anton <br /> Nelesson was an outstanding speaker at the meeting who will be <br /> visiting the Everett area and making presentations the last <br /> week in April. His presentations deal with public perceptions <br /> in terms of their likes and dislikes about what's happening in <br /> their communities. Councilman Overstreet urged all to attend. <br /> Marylou Block,Planning, said the presentations would be April <br /> 27,29 and May 2. <br /> Councilman Pope reported that Monday he attended the Human <br /> Needs Budget Committee meeting in Councilman Anderson's place, <br /> who is out of town. They are preparing a resolution to bring <br /> before Council as they are out of balance $627. He requested <br /> that the resolution be put on the April 22 Council agenda. <br /> Councilman Diamond reported that they are working on <br /> resolutions regarding the Paine Field expansion and which will <br /> be coming to Council in the near future. <br /> PRESIDENT'S COMMENTS <br /> President Gipson explained that he had requested Frank Figg, <br /> Boeing, to come today to anuwar some questions regarding the <br /> Paine Field expansion raised by other councilmembers. He also <br /> had requested that Tram.be in attendance but they were unable <br /> to attend today but will be at the April 22nd meeting. <br />
