April26,2000 <br /> WHEREAS,22 percent of Everert's general fund revenue is derived from sales <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Everett, <br /> Washington,opposes any Congrecsiossl action to implement the Advisory <br /> Commission on ERCBonic Commerce's report proposals that would preempt <br /> state and local sovereignty,guaranteed by the]0^Amendment of the United <br /> States Constitution;and <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Everett,Washington,supports <br /> simplification of state and local sales taxes,and urges states to move <br /> expeditiously to craft and approve model legisWion;and <br /> BE IT FUR'T'HER RESOLVED that the City of Everett.Washing..opposes <br /> any Congressional efforts to expand the current moratorium to cover state and <br /> local sales and use taxes. <br /> Roll was called with all couoci umbers voting yes except Camilmember <br /> Warnock who was excused. <br /> Motion carried. <br /> PRESIDENT <br /> President Campbell announced that agenda item#13,an addendum with BHT, <br /> would be pulled from today's agenda. <br /> Agenda item#16,a resolution relating to the Police Deparwem's revised <br /> emphasis in Be Everett School District's elementary schools,will be considered <br /> following the consent agenda isms. <br /> PROCLAMATION-WORKER'S MEMORIAL DAY <br /> A proclamation was presented w Mike Sells,Snubnmish County Labor Council <br /> AFL/CIO,relating to a"Worker Day Memorit,f og ant",April 28,2000. <br /> 161 <br />
