May I9,2000 <br /> John Markuson,1609 Baker,remarked that the NE Everett Neighborhood had <br /> unanimously voted to register their disappointment with the Parks Department's <br /> placement of the off-leash dog area in Jackson Park.He requested that the pilot <br /> program be withdrawn and reconsidered for proper placement. <br /> Moved by Councilmember Simpson,seconded by Countllmember Gipson to <br /> bring the NE Neighborhood's concern back to the Parks Board for further <br /> revsew and that construction be discontinued at the Jackson Park site. <br /> Gretchen Shaffer,806 Alpine Drive,Parks Board,explained how the pilot <br /> program for the off-leash dog areas evolved. <br /> Considerable discussion ensued.The consensus of the councilmembers was that <br /> there had not been enough information disseminated to the public. <br /> Gail Chinn,4601 South 0 Avenue,spoke 000000ing the off-leash dog area M <br /> Lowell Park. <br /> Councilntember Warnock made a friendly amendment to the motion to extend <br /> an outreach program by the Parks Department to the affected neighborhoods to <br /> educate them about the pilot program. <br /> Roll was called with all couocilmembers voting yes. <br /> Motion carried. <br /> Gail Chism,4601 South 4"Avera,confirmed with,comments regarding the tire <br /> fire site. <br /> Michele Hoverter,5502 South 20,spoke regarding government and citizens <br /> responsibilities to each other. <br /> President Campbell announced that citizen comments will be moved to 8:00 <br /> m.beginning May 24,2000.This will allow additional time for citbem m <br /> speak. <br />
