September 12,2001 <br /> WHEREAS,the City Council fends that a Western Hockey League franchised <br /> Mem which has the backing and support of a well tam highly prokssional league <br /> would benefit the Special Events Center and the City of Everett,and that a <br /> Western Hockey League franchise would make a very desirable anchor tenant for <br /> Everett's Public Facilities District's Special Events Center. <br /> NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br /> CITY OF EVERETT THAT this resolution expressing the Cotcil's interest in <br /> and respect for the Western Hockey League and its interest in having a Western <br /> Hockey league teem become a part of the fabric of the City,be transmitted by the <br /> Mayor to the Presider of the Western Hockey Lague and that the City Council <br /> hereby provides its support for the Western Hockey League's minor league <br /> franchisees the anchor tenant for the Special Events Center. <br /> Roll was called with all counallmembes voting yes. <br /> Motion carried. 0 <br /> PRESIDENT <br /> President Simpson announced that the Snohomish County YMCA will be <br /> sponsoring a Minority Achievers Program at the Monte Crisco Ballroom on <br /> September 28,2001 from 12 pan.to 1:30 p.m. He encouraged the <br /> councilmanbers to attend. <br /> REPORT—DEPARTMENT OFTRANSPORTATION <br /> Elam Fabry, Area Administrator, Washington State Department of <br /> Transportation,stated that Phase 2 of the trestle construction is due to begin on <br /> September 18,2001.She requested the City's support to encourage employers to <br /> allow their employees to telecommute or work flex hoots whenever possible <br /> during the consmdion period.The Depwhnent ofTanspooation is attempting to <br /> mitigate the impacts on the cities of Snohomish and Everett through contract <br /> penalties and incentives,free Comma i5,Transit bus roma,and detour la <br /> 394 <br />
