September 12,2001 <br /> RESOLUTION—WESTERN HOCKEY LEAGUE <br /> Moved by Couaeilmember Gipson,seconded by Cooncilmember Anderson to <br /> adopt Resolution No.5099 in support of the Western Hockey League <br /> becoming an anchor tenant of the Everett Public Facilities District's Special <br /> Events Center. <br /> Cmmcihaember Overstreet questioned whether this resolution excludes the <br /> competition far an anchor tenant.Mayor Hensen responded that there is only one <br /> hockey league which is interested at this time. <br /> Resolution No.5099 is as follows: <br /> WHEREAS,the City Council of the City of Eye.,Washington has adopted <br /> Ordinance No.2511-0I,effective April 10,2001,determining that it is in the best <br /> interests of the City and ha citizens to forma public facilities district m undertake, <br /> in conjunction with the City,the design,comtructiom operation,promotion and <br /> financing of a special events center that will promote economic development, <br /> provide needed public facilities to serve local and regional business,community, <br /> family entenaiommt,youth recreation and athletic organizations;and <br /> WHEREAS,Ordinance No.2511-01 created a Public Facilities District pursuant <br /> to Chapter 35.57 RCW keow0 as the Everett Public Facilities District;and <br /> WHEREAS,the City Council Sods that the Public Pacility District is actively <br /> moving forward in its Special Events Center development efforts;and <br /> WHEREAS,the City Council Ends that an important component to achieving a <br /> financially viable Special Events Caner is becoming the home of an experienced <br /> and financially strong anchor tenant;and <br /> WHEREAS,the Indoor Arena Feasibility Analysis produced by Brailsford and <br /> Dunlavey recommended that a minor league professional hockey franchise be <br /> cored as an anchor tenant for the Everett Special Events Center which <br /> recommendation was supported by the Citimn'a Committee as well;and <br /> WHEREAS,the Western Hockey League has expressed an interest in placing a <br /> minor league hockey fimchiae in the Everett Special Events Center,and <br /> 393 <br />
