1 <br /> August 7,2002 <br /> COUNCIL BILL NO.02-06.36 <br /> THIRD AND FINAL READING: <br /> AN ORDINANCE concerning alcohol at the City's golf courses, <br /> amending Section 21 of Ordinance No.3471 as amended by <br /> Ordinance No.89-70(EMC 9.06.200)and authorizing the City <br /> Attorney's Office to prepare an amendment for the GRI.City <br /> contract Increasing the City's percentage share of revenues <br /> from beverage cart alcohol sales from 35%to 45%and <br /> authorizing the Mayor to sign the amendment. <br /> Moved by Council Member Olson,seconded by Council Member Pope <br /> that this is declared to be the third and final reeding of Council Bill No.02- <br /> 06-36. <br /> Jim Swearengin,12708-96n Avenue NE,Arlington,spoke in opposition to <br /> the sale of alcohol on the City's golf courses. <br /> The following Individuals spoke in favor of selling beer and wine on the <br /> City's golf courses: Peter Held,1410 57 Place SW,Michael Masao, <br /> 1024 35 Street,and Stuart Nicol,1907 100•Street SW. They stated <br /> that the City of Everett is losing revenue by not selling alcohol from the • <br /> beverage cans,end that it will give Golf Resources Inc.mom control over <br /> alcohol consumption on the golf courses. <br /> Bruce Christie,Golf Resources Inc.,commented on the training and <br /> permits required for personnel serving alcohol to individuals al the golf <br /> and the policies and procedures in place to manage alcohol <br /> relateiincidents. <br /> Moved by Council Member Olson,seconded by Council Member <br /> Pope to amend the proposed ordinance,adding a Section 0 as <br /> follows:All bear and wine sold on City-owned golf courses shall be <br /> in containers opened al the time and point of sale and shall not be <br /> taken onto the parking lot. <br /> 264 <br />
