February 5,2003 <br /> RECOGNITION <br />• <br /> Mayor Anderson reed a letter from the Washington State Off of <br /> Archaeology and Historic Preservation,Governor's Advisory Council an <br /> Historic Preservation,recognizing the City of Everett for its continued <br /> support of historic preservation,its partnership with the National Parks <br /> Service and the State Historic Preservation Office and its protection of <br /> historic properties.It also stated that Everett has maintained its status as <br /> a certified local government for the year 2003. <br /> COUNCIL <br /> Council Members Krell and Gipson reported that they also attended the <br /> Scholastic Art and Writing Award ceremony. There were 130 students <br /> that received awards at the ceremony.They were from middle and high <br /> schools throughout the county.It was a very positive event thanks to the <br /> Parks staff,the Arts Council.the CUIWret Commission and Susan Russell, <br /> a retired art teacher. <br /> Council Member Campbell voiced the need to remember our service <br /> personnel stationed at various locations throughout the world as well as <br /> their families. <br /> CITY ATTORNEY <br /> City Attorney Soine stated that Iwo weeks ago a public healing was held <br /> regarding the Business Improvement Area.It will again be placed on next <br /> week's city council meeting agenda. <br /> He also requested an executive session regarding a real estate matter <br /> and a personnel matter to last approximately 20 minutes with no <br /> announcement following. <br /> 28 <br />
