1 <br /> September 14,2005 <br /> The regular meeting of the Everett City Council was called to order at 8:30 <br /> am.,September 14,2005,In the City Cr.uncil Chambers of the Everett <br /> City Hall,President Krell presiding.Upon roll call it was found that Mayor <br /> Stephenson;Council Members Krell,Olson,Ha0oe,Gipson,Nielsen,and <br /> Stonecipher were present.Councli Member Overstreet was excused. <br /> Council Member Nielsen led the Pledge of Allegiance. <br /> The minutes of the September 7,2005 City Council meeting were <br /> approved as printed.Council Member Nielsen abstained from the vote <br /> MAYOR <br /> UPDATE—CITY OF ISSAOUAH ORDINANCE/SEX OFFENDERS <br /> Assistant City Affomey Camp responded to Council Member Gipson's <br /> request at the August 31,2005 City Council mean regarding whether <br /> the City of Issaquah's newly adopted ordinance regarding restrictions on <br /> housing for level two and level three sex offenders could be incorporated <br /> Into our municipal code.He reported that Issaqueh's ordinance restricts <br /> sex offenders from living within 1000 feet of daycares and schools.The <br /> ordinance provides for civil fines and charges to be levied against <br /> offenders who live within the restricted areas and those who rent to them. <br /> He remarked that there Is a lawsuit pending against the City of Issaquah <br /> in King County Superior Court regarding this matter. <br /> TEN COMMANDMENT MONUMENT <br /> Mayor Stephenson stated that U.S.District Court Judge Robert Lasnik <br /> ruled yesterday that the Ton Commandments Monument could remain on <br /> City of Everett property.He introduced Steve Smith,outside counsel,and <br /> thanked him and the City's legal staff for their outstanding work. <br /> Steve Smith,Preston Gates and Ellis,thanked the Mayor,City Council, <br /> and City Attorneys office for giving them an opportunity to work on this <br /> matter. He discussed the basis for Judge Lasnik's decision.He stated <br /> 2913 <br />
