December 5.2007 <br /> A special joint meeting of the Everett City Council and the Board of <br /> Directors of Snohomish County Public Transportation Benefit Area <br /> Corporation was called to order at 8:00 a.m.,December 5,2007 in the <br /> City Council Chambers of the Everett City Hell. Everett City Council <br /> President Stonecipher and Community Transit Board Chair Mann <br /> presided.Upon roll call it was found that Everett Mayor Stephenson;City <br /> of Everett Council Members Roberts,Olson,Hatloe,Gipson,Nielsen. <br /> Stonecipher and Overstreet were present. Community Transit Board <br /> Chair Mann,and Community Transit Board Members Gipson,Thorndike, <br /> Angrick.Gossett and Hikel were present. Community Transit Board <br /> Members Kendall,Smith and Nelson were not in attendance. <br /> Council Member Gipson led the Pledge of Allegiance. <br /> President Stonecipher thanked all for attending and stated that the <br /> purpose of the meeting was to vote on an intedoczl agreement between <br /> the City of Everett(Everett Transit)and the Snohomish County Public <br /> Transportation Benefit Area Corporation(Community Transit)for the <br /> cooperative provision of services,facilities and resources between the <br /> agencies. <br /> Richard Tarty,Everett Transit Transportation Systems Manager,gave a <br /> brief presentation. He explained that the partnership formalizes both <br /> agencies'commitment to improve transit services for all residents of <br /> Everett and Snohomish County.Swift will be the basis and cornerstone of <br /> the operation. Swift is a bus rapid transit service scheduled to open in <br /> 2009.It will provide a fast,frequent trainlike transit service between the <br /> Aurora Village Transit Center and Everett Station along Highway 99, <br /> Evergreen Way,Rucker Avenue and the Pacific Avenue corridor.The two <br /> agencies will share in the costs of Swift. Joy Munkers,Community <br /> Transit,was also available for questions. <br /> CITIZEN COMMENT <br /> Steve Oss,President of the ATU Local 833,stated that there were some <br /> issues for the Everett Transit bus drivers with regard to this project, <br /> although he supported the project.He indicated that there had been no <br /> bargaining with the local union. <br /> 398 <br />
