March 14,2008 <br /> A special meeting of the Everett City Council was called to order at 8:30 <br /> a.m.,March 14,2008 in the City Council Chambers of the Everett City <br /> Hall,President Nielsen presiding.Upon roll call it was found that Mayor <br /> Stephenson; Council Members Olson, Hatee, Gipson, Nielsen, <br /> Stonecipher,and Afiholter were present. Council Member Roberts was • <br /> excused. <br /> Council Member Affholter led the Pledge of Allegiance. <br /> The minutes of the March 5,2008 City Council meeting were approved as <br /> printed. <br /> MAYOR <br /> Mayor Stephenson welcomed Chris Kr pp.Interim City Attorney. <br /> COUNCIL <br /> The council members remarked on tl air attendance at the National <br /> League of Cities'Conference in Washington,D.C.end stated that they <br /> would give their reports eta later date. <br /> Council Member Olson reported on his attendance at the Transportation <br /> Committee meeting of March 5,2008. He stated that they considered <br /> three topics:the complete streets program,a bike sharing program for <br /> central Everett and the liability involved,and the continued study of a <br /> street car system.He remarked that they have directed staff to evaluate <br /> the systems currently in operation in other cities our cross the <br /> country. He emphasized that no recommendation is coming from the <br /> Transportation Committee at this time and that there has been no <br /> discussion in respect to any financing that might be involved in that <br /> system. A report from staff is expected when the Transportation <br /> Committee meets again the second week of April. <br />• <br /> Council Member Nielsen stated that he attended a meeting at the National <br /> League of Cities Conference regarding parliamentary procedures. <br /> 68 <br />
