June 17,2008 <br /> nowhere near the lowest rated route on the Everett Transit System.The <br /> Battens have offered to donate property fora bus turnaround. Everett <br /> Transit indicated that an engineers estimate to build a turnaround would <br /> be$150,000 which overstates the engineers estimate of$114,000. A <br /> safety concem has been indicated;however.there are other transit routes <br /> in areas without sidewalks;therefore.not a valid reason for cutting a <br /> route.A substantial number of citizens have signed a petition asking that <br /> the route be maintained,or that increased service be provided. The <br /> Comprehensive Transit Plan calls for neighborhood routes. The letter <br /> urged council members to reject Everett Transit's proposal to cut service <br /> on Route 1 in the View Ridge Neighborhood. <br /> Cec Stenning,411 Priest Point Drive,stated she owns a condo on 459. <br /> She spoke against having the route on 459. <br /> Karleen Hendrix,315 Elm Street,spoke in favor of taking the route off Elm <br /> Street due to safety concerns. <br /> Dan Stahlberg,319 Elm Street,also stated that having buses on Elm <br /> Street is a dangerous situation. There is no room for sidewalks. The <br /> issue Is safety. <br /> Tony Poch.611 Kings Place.spoke in favor of the turnaround and voiced <br /> that Elm Street is dangerous. <br /> Patricia C.Wilson.330 Elm Street,representing the Home Owners <br /> Association Board of View Ridge Condominiums,stated that they would <br /> like to see the bus route remain.When she moved into the neighborhood <br /> bus service was a consideration of her living in this area.She spoke in <br /> favor of the bus route remaining. <br /> Rebecca Stahlberg,319 Elm Street,indicated that there is a safety issue <br /> on Elm Street regarding buses. <br /> Kila Evans,327 Olympic.voiced that she uses the bus and It is a great <br /> Terry Albrecht.1035 N.Park Ddve,spoke in favor of keeping bus service <br /> in View Ridge.It is not safe to cross at the boulevard. <br /> 187 • <br />
