August 6,2008 <br /> Mayor Stephenson related that the concept of forming an ad hoc <br /> committee to help guide the city would be useful. <br /> Michelle Johnson,3732 24,Street,stated that as community they are <br /> impressed and thankful for the city council's immediate address of the <br /> situation and for listening.She indicated that there ate still a number of <br /> questions that need to be answered:880 foot rule,contacts,monitoring of <br /> relationship(family definition).She brought forth that Evergreen Manor is <br /> three blocks from the MCManis Mansion and it houses 23 women and <br /> children with a daycare in it.She talked about the notification process and <br /> said the information isn't consistent She asked for the city council's '.. <br /> continued help.They are planning to address and take the 880 foot rule <br /> as an issue to the legislature.She emphasized that their concem relates <br /> to"potential.. <br /> Ryan Countryman,3312 Lombard Avenue,brought forth a concern about <br /> the condition of various properties around the city. He suggested more <br /> enforcement of the building codes.He volunteered to be on the task force <br /> committee. <br /> Bob and MJ Creamer,2816 Baker Avenue,thanked all these who <br /> presented today. His concern focused on the concentration of sex <br /> offenders in our area. He spoke about the lack of communication and <br /> cooperation between agencies. He requested that the city pursue in <br /> cooperation with all the agencies involved to make sure that the <br /> placement and monitoring of sex offenders is properly done.This would <br /> mitigate and help protect our neighborhoods and assess proper Irving <br /> conditions for the sex offenders.Sex offenders do need a proper place to <br /> live and the city,state end other officials can help that happen. <br /> The city council meeting recessed for a short break and resumed <br /> thereafter. <br /> President Nielsen Indicated that the city council has received written <br /> comment from Karol Dereg,chair of the Riverside Neighborhood. <br /> Kathy Atwood,Police Department,gave statistics regarding the number of <br /> ex offenders in Snohomish County(1,620),the city of Everett(731)and <br /> Lynnwood(62).
