This effort <br /> represents the next evolution of our community policing program.We are <br /> now in the second month of our Graffiti Removal Pilot Program.We will <br /> determine the project's success next year end examine the possibility of <br /> expending and carrying the program forward to future years. <br /> Quality of Life <br /> Parks and recreation <br /> In 2008,parks completed$2.7 million in projects including: <br /> •Wiggums Hollow Skate Park; <br /> •Bayside Park improvements; <br /> •Grand Avenue Park renovations;and <br /> •the acquisition of a one-half acre addition to Edgewater Park <br /> and a 15-acre addition to create a new park in south Everett <br /> near the Interurban Trail. <br /> Jetty Island Days,one of our most popular parks programs,will begin <br /> earlier next summer and extend services from six to seven days a week. <br /> Additionally,we expect to complete$1 million in renovations at Lions nark <br /> in the Pinehurst Neighborhood. We will also continue our popular <br /> community events such as Sodiculture,Music in the Parks,and Cinema <br /> Under the Stars. <br /> Transportation Improvements <br /> In 2008,we will spend about$18 million on local roads and transit <br /> projects.We continue this trend in 2009 with the following projects: <br /> •Street improvements to intersection of Broadway and Beverly <br /> Boulevard,intersection at Casino Road and e Avenue W., <br /> continuation of our street overlay program and signal <br /> Improvements along Broadway and Everett Avenues. <br /> •Pedestrian and bike lane improvements to Holly Drive,7. <br /> Avenue SE,Corbin Drive and W.Marine View Drive. <br /> 358 <br />
