January 14,2009 <br /> COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> Council Member Roberts reported that he attended the Parks Board <br /> Retreat Saturday moming. <br /> Council Member Gipson stated that he attended the Dr.Martin Luther <br /> King Jr.events and the turnout was greater than last year.He thanked <br /> Mayor Stephanson for the city's support of this event. <br /> CITIZEN COMMENTS <br /> David Mascarenas,517 Laurel Dove,spoke in support of the city council's <br /> actbn to have night city council meetings and commended city employees <br /> for their quick response regarding a sewer problem he had recently. <br /> Ed Rubatiino announced that Rubatino Refuse Removal will be fling with <br /> the Utilities Commission fora rate increase to take effect March 15.Their <br /> last rate increase was in 2004. The rate Increase is due to increased <br /> tipping fees charged by Snohomish County. <br /> CONSENT ITEMS: <br /> Moved by Council Member Gipson,seconded by Council Member <br /> Nielsen to approve the following consent Item: <br /> RESOLUTION-CLAIMS <br /> To adopt Resolution No.6104 acknowledging the payment of audited <br /> and approved claims against the city of Everett in the amount of <br /> $1,224,145.56 for the period December 27,2008 through January 2, <br /> 2009. <br /> Roll was called with all council members voting yes. <br /> Motion carried. <br />
