March 18,2009 <br /> portion of the Arlington Community Youth Center(Hadley Hall for <br /> police training. <br /> Roll was called with all council members voting yes except Council <br /> Members Roberta and Gipson who were excused. <br /> Motion carried. <br /> COUNCIL BILL NO.0902-04 <br /> THIRD AND FINAL READING: <br /> AN ORDINANCE adopting standards for the delivery of public <br /> defense services <br /> Moved by Council Member Stonecipher,seconded by Council Member <br /> Nielsen that this is declared to be the third and final reading of Council Bill <br /> No.0902-04 and to author¢e a request for proposals for public <br /> defense services. <br /> Moved by Council Member Olson,seconded by Council Member <br /> Mellen to amend the ordinance to require that the public defense <br /> attomeys acquire legal malpractice Insurance coverage in an amount <br /> to be determined by the city attorney's office and the risk <br /> management team. <br /> City Attorney Ilea stated that the ordinance establishes the base minimum <br /> standards as required by state law for indigent defense contracts.The <br /> sample RFP and sample contract does include the requirement for <br /> malpractice insurance,however adding the language to the ordinance is <br /> permissible. <br /> Roll was called on the amendment to the proposed ordinance with all <br /> council members voting yes except Council Members Roberts and Gipson <br /> who were excused. <br /> Motion carded. <br /> 73 <br />
