June 3,2009 <br /> PUBLIC HEARING—PROPOSED TRANSIT FARE INCREASE <br /> President Hate opened a public hearing regarding Everett Transit <br /> proposed fare change. <br /> Tom Hingson,Everett Transit,explained that this fare change proposal,ff <br /> Implemented,will still keep Everett Transit's fares the lowest transit fares <br /> in the Puget Sound Region.The Intent is ro hear comments tonight and <br /> into next week.The final proposal and recommendation will come before <br /> the Transportation Committee on June 9 and before the Budget <br /> Committee on June 10.A proposed acceptance on June 17 would allow <br /> implementation on July 1. He recognized Matt Coombs'work on this <br /> project. <br /> Steffan Lillie,Transit Program Manager,gave a power point presentation <br /> regarding the specifics of the fare change proposal.She explained the <br /> public outreach that has been done,300 people attending S public <br /> meetings.The only current fare that would increase would be adult fare <br /> which would increase by 25 cents.She also talked about the use of the <br /> new ORCA pass. <br /> Council members had questions about the ORCA passes and how they <br /> work and if there is a need for the proposed fare increase. <br /> President Hatloe asked for citizen comments. <br /> Alice Lodgan, Everett,spoke against a change that would affect <br /> paretransitddere. <br /> Moved by Council Member Roberts,seconded by Council Member <br /> Nielsen to close the public hearing. <br /> Roll was called with all council members voting yes. <br /> Motion carried. <br /> 149 <br />
