June 24,2009 <br /> RENAMING SENIOR CENTER <br /> Mayor Stephenson asked for the city council's concurrence regarding a <br /> making a recommendation to the Historical Commission to rename the <br /> Senior Center Activity Center as The Cad Gipson Senior Center of <br /> Everett..This is In light of the fact that Carl Gipson has made numerous <br /> contributions to the City of Everett.including his service as a city council <br /> member for 24 years. In accordance with Resolution No.5865 the <br /> Historic Commission must process the request. They will make a <br /> recommendation and forward it back to the City Council for consideration. <br /> Moved by Council Member Stonecipher,seconded by Council <br /> Member Nielsen to forward a request to rename the Senior Center <br /> the Carl Gipson Senior Center to the Historic Commission for their <br /> consideration per Resolution No.5865. <br /> Roll was called with all council members voting yes except Council <br /> Members Robeds and Atholter. <br /> Motion carried. <br /> COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> Council Member Olson asked when the Comp Plan amendments will be <br /> coming before city council. One of the Items concerns property in <br /> southwest Everett which has Implications for our industdal land policy.He <br /> requested that enough time be given to the coy council for consideration <br /> of the policy as well as the specific application for a Comp Plan <br /> amendment. <br /> CM Bryant indicated she would get him details and that the industrial <br /> land policy will be discussed. <br /> COLLINS BUILDING <br /> Council Member Olson slated that the Planning Director has informed the <br /> city council that the Port of Everett has applied for a demolition permit for <br /> ' the Collins Building;and in the absence of anything else arising it will be <br /> 179 <br />
