January 20,2010 <br /> The regular meeting of the Everett City Council was celled to order at 6:30 <br /> p.m.,January 20,2010 in the City Council Chambers of the Everett City <br /> Hall,President Roberts presiding.Upon roll call it was found that Mayor <br /> Stephenson;Council Members Roberts,Moore,Hatioe,Gipson,Nielsen, <br /> Stonecipher,and Aftholter were present. <br /> Council Member Stonecipher led the Pledge of Allegiance. <br /> The minutes of the January 13,2009 Everett City Council meeting were <br /> approved as printed. Council Member Stonecipher abstained from the <br /> vote. <br /> COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> Council Member Affholter reported that he attended the Greater Everett <br /> Cr.Martin Luther King Jr.community celebration at First United Methodist <br /> Church this past weekend. He stated that the common theme that <br /> toping was working together and finding common ground which seems <br /> appy to issues the council lies been dealing with lately,specifically <br /> whether council meetings should be held in the day or evening. <br /> He then requested that the city attomey prepare a proposed ordinance <br /> that would establish one dray meeting per month with three or four night <br /> meetings per month,depending upon the month. <br /> Council President Roberts asked the city attorney to draft the proposed <br /> ordinance with the first reading to be held February 31°. He also <br /> requested that the February r and 10a meetings be special night <br /> meetings starting at 6:30 p.m.,with the third reading at the regular night <br /> meeting on the 17". <br /> Council Member Moore shared his reasoning as to why on January e"he <br /> voted for day meetings with a mix of night meetings. <br /> CITY ATTORNEY <br /> City Attorney Iles had no comment. <br /> 13 <br />
