January 20,2010 The regular meeting of the Everett City Council was celled to order at 6:30 p.m.,January 20,2010 in the City Council Chambers of the Everett City Hall,President Roberts presiding.Upon roll call it was found that Mayor Stephenson;Council Members Roberts,Moore,Hatioe,Gipson,Nielsen, Stonecipher,and Aftholter were present. Council Member Stonecipher led the Pledge of Allegiance. The minutes of the January 13,2009 Everett City Council meeting were approved as printed. Council Member Stonecipher abstained from the vote. COUNCIL COMMENTS Council Member Affholter reported that he attended the Greater Everett Cr.Martin Luther King Jr.community celebration at First United Methodist Church this past weekend. He stated that the common theme that toping was working together and finding common ground which seems appy to issues the council lies been dealing with lately,specifically whether council meetings should be held in the day or evening. He then requested that the city attomey prepare a proposed ordinance that would establish one dray meeting per month with three or four night meetings per month,depending upon the month. Council President Roberts asked the city attorney to draft the proposed ordinance with the first reading to be held February 31°. He also requested that the February r and 10a meetings be special night meetings starting at 6:30 p.m.,with the third reading at the regular night meeting on the 17". Council Member Moore shared his reasoning as to why on January e"he voted for day meetings with a mix of night meetings. CITY ATTORNEY City Attorney Iles had no comment. 13
