January 26,2011 <br /> Salary Commission <br /> Clair Olivers for reappointment to Position No.2 fora four-year <br /> term beginning 1/1/2011 and ending 12/31/2014. <br /> Lawrence Jubie for appointment to Position No.3 for a four- <br /> year term beginning 1/1/2011 and ending 12/31/2014. <br /> Roll was called with all council members voting yes. <br /> Motion carried. <br /> REPORT—FCONOMIC DEVELOPMENT EFFORTS <br /> Mayor Stephenson gave a report regarding the city's economic <br /> development efforts. He thanked and recognized the efforts of the <br /> following group of community stakeholders led by Torn Gaffney: Rich <br /> Anderson,David Beyer,Rick Cooper,Mike Dellen,Steve Hager,Mike <br /> Holcomb,Jim Longus,Troy McClelland,Gary Meisner,John Mohr,Carol <br /> Nelson and Duane Pearson. The group discussed an <br /> development work plan and identified and prioritized the initiatives that <br /> would best serve the city now and into the future. <br /> Some of the economic development initiatives discussed were:a four year <br /> university;aerospace cluster;health care industry;Naval Station Everett; <br /> commercial air and light rail;city property master plan;the• <br /> Ri erfront,and quality of life improvements. Mayor Stephenson also <br /> noted the progress we have already made. <br /> Council Member Roberts thanked the commMee for a great job and the <br /> keys that he liked in the report focused on the aerospace issues,the Port, <br /> health care,quality of lite,and business retention as well as recruitment. <br /> Council Member Stonecipher thanked the committee. She related that <br /> she did not see a lot of new initiatives in the work plan element and would <br /> like to see a vision for the future.She also requested a report regarding <br /> surplus properties. <br /> 24 <br />
