November 2,2011 <br /> Annie Lyman, Everett.expressed concem regarding the proposed <br /> property tax increase and questioned whether the council members have <br /> discussed other options. <br /> Jim Staniford.Everett,stated his opposition to the proposed ordinance. <br /> Moved by Council Member Roberts,seconded by Council Member <br /> Nielsen to close the public hearing. <br /> Roll was called oith all council members voting yes. <br /> Motion carried. <br /> Council Member Stonecipher expressed concern that the council C being <br /> asked to pass the revenue piece of the budget before they have a chance <br /> to wade into the expense piece. <br /> Council Member Nielsen indicated that he does not have adequate <br /> information to substantiate the city's need to raise property taxes. <br /> Considerable discussion ensued. <br /> Moved by Council Member Moore,seconded by Council Member <br /> Roberts to table the discussion regarding the third and final reading <br /> of Council Bill No.1110-31. <br /> The council members requested that staff provide them with additional <br /> information for next week's meeting:a 10-year history of changes in <br /> property values,CPI and taxes;what the alternative to the passage of the <br /> proposed ordinance would be;a review of the governor's proposed list <br /> and its ripple effect related to city services;and a list of the top five items <br /> that may be eliminated if the tax Is not increased. <br /> 304 <br />
