SECTION 24: It is the purpose of this ordinance to fix <br /> the number of and description of the permanent assistants, <br /> deputies and employees in the various offices of the City of <br /> Everett, and establish part time employment and day labor, and <br /> nothing herein contained shall be construed so as to prevent <br /> the various officers and various heads of the departments of <br /> the City of Everett from employing, with the consent of the City <br /> Council, such additional employees as from time to time may be <br /> necessary in the proper discharge of the duties of such officers, <br /> or from discontinuing such temporary or part time employees when <br /> the necessity therefor has ceased to exist. (1.16.250) <br /> SECTION 25: The appointment of all employees in all <br /> I departments, where required by the City Charter, shall be subject <br /> �= to Civil Service regulations of the City of Everett, providing in <br /> event vacancies occur and there is no eligibility list from <br /> which said vacancy may be filled, temporary appointment may be <br /> made of persons without Civil Service standing. <br /> .9 3 <br /> The Stenographer in the City Attorney Department shall <br /> be appointed by the City Attorney. <br /> The Special City Attorney shall be appointed by the <br /> City Council. <br /> The City Clerk shall be ex-officio Secretary of the <br /> Civil Service Commission. The Assistant and Special Examiners <br /> in the Civil Service Department shall be appointed by the Civil <br /> Service Commission. <br /> The Clerk of the Police Court Department shall be <br /> appointed by the Police Justice. <br /> The assistants and employees in the Department of Finance <br /> ' shall be appointed by the Commissioner of Finance. <br /> The officers, except City Engineer, assistants and employees <br /> in the Department of Public Works shall be appointed by the Com- <br /> ' missioner of Public Works . <br /> The City Council shall appoint a City Clerk, City Attorney, <br /> Treasurer and City Engineer, as provided by Section 24 of the Char- <br /> ter. <br /> The officers, assistants and employees in the Department of <br /> ' Safety shall be appointed by the Commissioner of Safety. <br /> All persons paid on an hourly basis as hereinafter or <br /> herein set forth shall be considered and be day laborers as <br /> defined by the City Charter governing Civil Service (1.16.260) , <br /> SECTION 26: That on and after the 1st day of January, 1963, : <br /> the salaries and compensations to be paid to the officers, <br /> assistants, deputies and employees of the City of Everett shall be <br /> . as in this ordinance provided. (1.214.010) <br /> SECTION 27: CITY ATTORNEY DEPARTMENT <br /> City Attorney, part time $650.00 per mo. <br /> Special City Atty. (part time) 320.00 per mo. <br /> Stenographer (part time) 250.00 per mo. <br /> Relief Stenographer (part time) not over 2.50 per hr. <br /> Relief Help, City Attorney (part time) 900.00 per year. <br /> -7- <br />
