The Subject Site <br />was the location of the former Jackson <br />Elementary School (1902-1955). It now <br />contains an informal play field with no 1RDS AVE ED'1VARD5 AVE 3El H 5T <br />structures existing. Many houses and structures within this area of the City are greater <br />than 45 years old. A house at 3501 Norton (ca. 1934) was determined ineligible for <br />the historic register. A house at 3 515 Norton was documented as constructed in 1904 <br />and detailed through the historic property inventory (HPI) with the State Department <br />of Archaeology and Historic Preservation online system; however, no determination <br />was made for the house. The previous school on -site was <br />torn down in 1955. <br />c. Describe the methods used to assess the potential impacts to cultural and historic <br />resources on or near the project site. Examples include consultation with tribes <br />and the department of archaeology and historric preservation, archaeologicai <br />surveys, historic maps, GIS data, etc. <br />Research was conducted online with the Washington Department of Archaeology and <br />Historic Preservations' WISSARD system, as well- as the City of Everett's website. <br />Additional information is available about the Norton -Grand Historic Overlay zone and <br />the history of this site from the City of Everett and the Northwest Room. <br />Neighborhood Outreach: Housing Hope intends to respect the existing historic <br />context of the Norton -Grand neighborhood through community inclusion in the design <br />process and collaborating with the Historic Commission to design a project that meets <br />the spirit of the historic neighborhood. Housing Hope has been hosting a series of <br />meetings with the Neighborhood Advisory Committee, to solicit neighbor preferences <br />of historic design and massing through voting exercises and design charrettes. This <br />has created opportunity for nearby residents to understand Housing Hope's mission <br />and on -site support systems provided to its residents.
