S <br /> October 7, 2020 <br /> WORKSHOP: <br /> PORT OF EVERETT UPDATE <br /> CEO/Executive Director Lisa Lefeber provided a review of the Port's theme for a <br /> balanced waterfront, 2020 Strategic Plan, 2019 economic benefits of the Port, a <br /> breakdown of taxes, current operations update, 2021 operating capital budget <br /> assumptions, including aerospace and planned investments, and an update on <br /> future and completed projects. <br /> Discussion took place regarding the following: <br /> • Update on Bay Wood site development, including the shoreline public <br /> access trail planned for the site <br /> Riverside Business Park development and status of space available <br /> • Fire suppression (cost, training, and readiness) support to Port; the need <br /> to discuss some type of collaboration between the City and Port <br /> • • Impacts of$4 million budget shortfall such as staff transfers or reductions, <br /> ability to do environmental cleanup, and deferred or delayed projects <br /> • Status of environmental cleanups, particularly Kimberly-Clark site, and <br /> associated in-water cleanup issues <br /> • Prospects of a Coast Guard move to Everett <br /> • Opportunities for other activities that the Navy might be able to use <br /> • Destinations for cleanup debris disposal <br /> • The types of shipyard jobs may be coming to replace the 800-900 jobs lost <br /> through the closure of Kimberly-Clark <br /> Council members thanked Ms. Lefeber for the clear presentation, and the <br /> continued partnership between the City and the Port that provides quality of life <br /> programming. <br /> EVERETT DISTRICTING COMMISSION UPDATE <br /> President Tuohy thanked Nicole Webber, Administration, the Commission <br /> members, and Districting Master Tony Fairfax for their hard work and ability to <br /> meet deadlines during the COVID-19 pandemic. <br /> r <br /> 307 <br />
