Mary Jane and Julie provided an overview of the
hotel voucher program and the distribution of grant funds throughout the County.
Council Member Bader expressed concern over Everett being the main service
provider in the County.
Council Member Tuohy asked about the timeline to bring the grant back to Council
for action. Julie anticipated the grant approval would be back to council within the
next month, and then they would bring a project proposal to Council for action.
Council Member Stonecipher asked about the number of people who have been
identified to be supported in the sheltering facilities. Mary Jane stated they are
identified by law enforcement or from community agencies.
•
Council Member Murphy asked if Council would be expected to approve the grant
prior to having a proposed project and a proposed location, and if Council would
have any action on the proposals. Julie stated it would depend on the proposals
that are received. Mayor Franklin stated this would depend on the location and
whether it would fall in City zoning rules. Nick Harper stated that Council would
be asked to act if the proposal falls outside of actions council has already taken on
current land use code or development regulations.
Council Member Vogeli stressed the importance of housing.
COUNCIL BILL 2010-56
FIRST READING:
AN ORDINANCE appropriating the budget for the City of Everett for the
year 2021 in the amount of$651,875,477
Discussed was deferred until the Budget hearing.
•
351
