Mary Jane stated this would be maintained after COVID.
Council Member Murphy asked about the relocation of the Carnegie building
sheltering and what other locations outside the city were considered. He stated
that he was provided information that Everett hosted 80% of the sheltering
capacity of the County when the City only has 15%of the population. She also stated that County and City staff are looking for an
appropriate future location. She stated that the pre- pandemic Everett shelter
capacity was 348 out of 646 shelter beds in the county, or roughly 50%, and that
a point- in- time County study showed that 45% of the people unsheltered in the
County are living within the city of Everett.
