Contact Nick Janssen, (360) 681-7737 <br /> 1-10.3(5) Construction Signs <br /> All signs required by the approved traffic control plan(s) as well as any other appropriate <br /> signs prescribed by the Engineer will be furnished by the Contractor and be paid under <br /> the item "Maintenance and Protection of Traffic Control." The Contractor shall erect <br /> them on posts or supports and maintain them in a clean, neat, and presentable condition <br /> until the necessity for them has ceased. All non-applicable signs shall be removed or <br /> covered with either metal or plywood during periods when they are not needed. When <br /> the need for any of these signs has ceased, the Contractor, upon approval of the <br /> Engineer, shall take down these signs, posts, or supports. All signs, posts, and supports <br /> shall be removed from the project and shall remain the property of the Contractor. <br /> There shall be no separate classification of signs. All construction signs, whether used <br /> throughout the construction, during a major phase of construction or removed daily shall <br /> be paid under the item "Maintenance and Protection of Traffic Control." Portable or <br /> temporary mountings may require added weight for stability. If it is necessary to add <br /> weight to the signs, only a bag of sand that will rupture on impact shall be used. The <br /> bag of sand shall have a maximum weight of 40 pounds and shall be suspended no <br /> more than 1-foot from the ground. <br /> The Work to provide the construction signing shall be: <br /> 1. Furnishing all construction signs. <br /> 2. Furnishing, removing, and disposing of the posts or supports for the signs. <br /> 3. Initial installation and subsequent removal of all construction signs. <br /> 4. Furnishing labor and materials for maintaining the signs in a clean and <br /> presentable condition; <br /> 5. All other incidentals necessary for providing the construction signs according <br /> to the approved traffic control plan(s). <br /> Signs, posts, or supports that are lost, stolen, destroyed, or which the Engineer deems <br /> to be unacceptable, while their use is required on the project, shall be replaced by the <br /> Contractor without additional compensation. <br /> 1-10.4 Measurement <br /> Delete 1-10.4 and substitute the following: <br /> 1-10.4 Measurement <br /> 1-10.4(1) General <br /> (******) <br /> When the Bid Proposal does not include an item for any necessary traffic control, all <br /> costs for traffic control shall be included, by the Contractor, in the unit contract price for <br /> the various other items of Work in the Bid Proposal. The Contractor shall estimate these <br /> costs based on the contemplated work procedures. <br /> When traffic control items are included in the Bid Proposal, payment is limited to the <br /> following areas: <br /> The entire project area under the Contract and for a distance to include the initial warning <br /> signs for the beginning of the Project and the end of construction. Warning signs for <br /> side roads on the approved traffic control plan are also included.
