CITY OF EVERETT SPECIAL PROVISIONS <br /> Supplement Division 5 of the Standard Specifications by adding the following: <br /> 5-06 PAVEMENT PATCHING <br /> (******) <br /> 5-06.1 Description <br /> This Work shall consist of the reconstruction and patching of trenches and other excavations <br /> in paved streets and other paved areas. <br /> 5-06.2 Materials <br /> Provide materials conforming to the requirements specified for the materials in Sections 5- <br /> • 04 & 5- 05 of the Standard Specifications except as modified by these Special Provisions. <br /> For HMA pavement patching provide HMA CL 1/2", PG 64-22 as specified in Section 5-04 of <br /> the Standard Specifications. <br /> For tack coat provide emulsified asphalt grade CSS-1 as specified in 9-02.1(6) of the <br /> Standard Specifications. <br /> For cement concrete pavement patching provide Type Ill (H.E.S.) with minimum 4,000 psi <br /> 28-day compressive strength and having curing time of five days. <br /> Provide crushed surfacing top course used for pavement patching conforming to the <br /> requirements of 9-03.9(3) of the Standard Specifications. <br /> 5-06.3 Construction Requirements <br /> 5-06.3(1) General <br /> Schedule pavement patching to accommodate the demands of traffic and perform as <br /> rapidly as possible to provide maximum safety and convenience to public traffic. <br /> Placing and compact the trench backfill and the preparation and compaction of the <br /> subgrade in accordance with the various applicable sections of the Standard <br /> Specifications except as modified by these Special Provisions. <br /> Before the pavement patch is to be constructed saw cut the pavement so that the <br /> marginal edges of the patch will form a rectangular shape with straight edges and vertical <br /> faces. <br /> Provide signs, barricades, lights and other warning devices in accordance with the <br /> requirements of the "Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices" and maintain 24-hours <br /> a day until the patching work is completed and ready for traffic. <br /> Complete subgrade compaction prior to the required patching. Compact subgrade to <br /> 95-percent as determined by the ASTM D2922 (nuclear method). <br /> 5-06.3(2) Cement Concrete Pavement <br /> After the Crushed Surfacing Top Course subgrade for the pavement has been <br /> constructed and compacted to line and grade, the cement concrete pavement patch <br /> shall be placed and struck off to a thickness of one inch greater than the existing <br /> pavement or eight inch minimum thickness, whichever is greater. Perform all Work in <br /> accordance with Section 5-05 of the Standard Specifications, except as modified by <br /> these Special Provisions and Standard Drawing No. 326. <br /> Place through joints and dummy joints to match existing or as directed by the Engineer. <br /> Finish and brush the surface of the concrete patch with a fiber brush.
