Please see summary of our responses to the structural
comments indicated below:
Note: All revised drawings should be marked with clouds and delta symbol 1 for `Addenda #1",
dated 03/28/2018.
Comment#2: It appears that the permit calculations are missing drift checks for the lateral
design of the structure. Please provide these computations as well as checks
for horizontal irregularities of the structure.
Response: See the added drift calculations on sheets A3-A19 for the third
and second floors of the concrete podium structure which are the
conditions above grade. Based on our review of the drifts,we have
concluded that we have an extreme horizontal torsional irregularity type
lb.per Table 12.3.1 of ASCE/SEI 7-10.
For the wood portion, please see added drift calculations on sheets A145-
A147. Calculations are based upon worst case walls located on grids 1.5,
12,A,and F. Analysis is based upon flexible diaphragm force
distribution. Upon review of Table 12.3-1,the only horizontal
irregularity is Type 2,Reentrant Corner Irregularity. Diaphragm forces
and connections were originally designed to take the additional 25% per
12.3.3.4.
Comment#3: It appears that the ELF procedure ofASCE 7-10 Sec 12.8 is being used for the
design of the lateral force resisting system. Please address how accidental
torsion and the accidental torsional amplification factors are being accounted
for in the design of the structure.
