I
I8.11 Maintain BMPs
In order for the ESC facilities to function properly, they must be maintained and sediment
I removed on a regular basis. Inspection and sediment removal shall be performed on all ESC
facilities, as described in the following inspection schedule.
Erosion control facilities shall not be allowed to fall into disrepair. All ESC facilities shall be
Iinspected, at a minimum, according to the following schedule.
• Dry Season: Once a week.
1 • Wet Season: Daily and after every storm event that produces runoff.
Needed repairs shall be made within 24 hours or immediately, if possible.
IThe following inspection/maintenance schedules shall be utilized to ensure the ESC facilities are
functioning as designed:
ITemporary and Permanent Seeding
• Seeding may be used throughout the project on disturbed areas. During the dry season,
I areas that have reached final grade, or are not being actively worked, shall be seeding
within 15 days. Seeded areas shall be supplied with adequate moisture, but not watered to
the extent that it causes runoff.
I • During the wet season, all disturbed areas not being actively worked shall be seeded or
stabilized with mulch or plastic sheeting.
I • During the wet season, no more area shall be exposed than can be controlled and
effectively stabilized by the end of each working day.
To prevent seed from being washed away, confirm that all other approved
erosion/sedimentation control facilities have been installed and are functioning properly.
• Any seeded areas that fail to establish 80 percent cover(100 percent cover for areas that
I receive sheet or concentrated flows)shall be reseeded. If reseeding is ineffective, an
alternate method shall be used.
I • Seeded areas shall be inspected after every rainfall event during the wet season. Any
areas that experience erosion shall be reseeded and protected by mulch. If the erosion
problem is drainage related, the problem shall be fixed and the eroded area reseeded and
protected by mulch.
I • Seeding shall not be used in areas subject to heavy vehicular traffic.
IPlastic Covering
• Plastic sheeting shall be inspected once a week during both the wet and dry season.
I • Torn sheets must be replaced and open seams repaired.
• If the plastic begins to deteriorate due to ultraviolet radiation, it must be completely
Iremoved and replaced.
IConstruction Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan
The Bethany at Silver Lake 7 011100
2180406.10
