RFP #2020-073 • CITY OF EVERETT PARKS, RECREATION & OPEN SPACE PLAN <br />Task 5.Options and Recommendations <br />Park and Trail Recommendations. We will prepare a set of system recommendations <br />addressing existing parks, recreation, and trail enhancements and expansions. The <br />recommendations will follow from community engagement results, conditions and trends <br />evaluations, desired levels of service, and funding availability. <br />In addition to systemwide recommendations for connectivity and filling of identified gaps, the <br />PROS Plan will address park -specific recommendations. The assessments of each park will be <br />brief, data supported, and strategic. We will identify access and ADA improvements needed <br />to enhance the walkability and biking experience for nearby residents to meet access policies <br />and level of service needs. Via Iocal Perteet staff listed in this proposal, the BERK <br />-team will assess maintenance management needs of parks facilities, and prepare a plan <br />for each park, including efficiency recommendations. A screening level environmental <br />analysis will also be performed for each facility with recommendations given for pesticide <br />usage and other earth friendly practices. If a facility is determined to be in a particularly <br />environmentally sensitive location, other specialized practices will be recommended. <br />Special Use Recommendations: Golf. The City wishes to examine the need for two golf <br />courses and best and highest use of golf course properties. One golf course lies near light <br />rail investments, Both golf courses provide open space and environmental functions and <br />values to different degrees. <br />BERK teammate Lund Consulting, will provide an evaluative framework and options for the <br />future of Everett's municipal golf courses.
