• •
b. City of Everett Comment:The parapet and wall appear to create additional wind loading on the
roof structure. This may result in lateral analyses needing to be performed, including
modifications to the roof load path. The DOR should comment on the proposed portions of the
IEBC governing this change.
Response:
KPFF Comments: No walls have been added. The curb atop the existing parapet has increased in
height^2.5". By inspection, this small increase in tributary area will result in a wind loading of
only 1-2%,which is negligible. No lateral analysis is necessary.
d. City of Everett Comment:The parapet encloses the roof and may cause potential ponding
issues. Documentation substantiating that the revised design complies with the drainage
requirements of IBC Section 1503.4 shall be submitted for review.
Response:
Wetherholt Comments: The existing roof structure (Building C canopy) is positively sloped
towards the south gutter. Overflow ports will be installed through the outboard leg of the
gutter, per detail 4/R9, adjacent each downspout, should the downspouts become plugged. The
overflow ports will be positioned beneath the plane of the roof to prevent water back-up onto
the roof. I noticed the size of the overflow scuppers are not included. We are assuming two-
5"x5"overflow scuppers. Refer to attached overflow calculations.
Standing water on the roof surface should be considered minimal to none.
5. City of Everett Comment:Sheet 51.0 is included with the set. Detail 5 appears to show some sort of new
structural member. The detail references Sheet R12,which is not included in this set. Clarify if this detail
applies to this structure.
Response:
KPFF Comments: Detail 5/S1.0 and Sheet R12 apply only to the Vault Canopy building; however, there are
still details on S1.0 that apply to this building,so do not remove the sheet entirely.
Fuel Island Canopy Permit No.: B1903-013
6. City of Everett Comment:See Comments 3 through 5 above. These shall also be addressed for this
building.
Response:
KPFF Comments: Same comments as above for Bldg C.
Detail 5/S1.0 and Sheet R12 apply only to the Vault Canopy building; however, there are still details on S1.0
that apply to this building,so do not remove the sheet entirely.
Vault Canopy Permit No.: B1903-014
7. City of Everett Comment:The drawings include the replacement of the roof deck, which appear to provide
the structural diaphragm. The following comments shall be addressed:
