• •
•
a. City of Everett Comment:The proposed IEBC criteria for this project shall be stated by the
DOR. The criteria shall justify the replacement of the deck with the proposed "in-kind"
construction.
Response:
KPFF Comments:This project is a repair per IEBC section 502.
b. City of Everett Comment:The report states to replace the deck with the same gage and
connections as the existing construction. The existing connections shall be specified in the
report.
Response:
KPFF Comments:Specifying the existing connections is not necessary. The new proposed deck
and connections,as shown on revised sheet S1.0(Revision 1 for permit comments),are better
than or equal to the existing conditions.
c. City of Everett Comment:The gage, depth, and structural properties for the deck shall be
specified in the drawings.
Response:
KPFF Comments:See revised sheet S1.0(Revision 1 for permit comments)that indicates gauge,
depth &structural properties for the replaced roof deck. The design characteristics of the new
proposed deck are better than or equal to the existing deck.
d. The new proposed deck includes connections that are
better than or equal to existing connections.
8. The designer-of-record (DOR)should
determine if Chapter 7 is the governing criteria proposed for the project, and verify if the design meets and
is acceptable per Exception 3. Note that due to modifications to the structural roof diaphragm, this project
may qualify as a Level 2 Alternation and required a structural lateral analysis depending on the increase in
the roof weight(i.e., 10%?).
Response:
KPFF Comments:The details on sheet R10 do not relate to the Vault Canopy. The details on sheet R10 relate
only to Building C and the Fuel Island Building. Both of these building will retain their existing structural
decks. Remove Sheet R10 from this package.
9. City of Everett Comment: Detail 1/R12 references Detail 5/S1.0. The work required in Detail 5/S1.0 is not
clear. It is not clear if the detail shows a plan or elevation view. Detail 5/S1.0 appears to show adding a news'
