RFP #2020-073 • CITY OF EVERETT PARKS, RECREATION & OPEN SPACE PLAN
Southwest Urban Growth Area Boundary Planning Study. BERK led a multidisciplinary
}
team to develop a study of a 10,000 acre area east of Mill Creek and Bothell to study 1p
environmental conditions and hypothetical scenarios. In addition to considering physical _ r_1('' ter_
• fY
conditions, the County desired to consider public input on what is working well and what
could work better in the study area. BERK developed an online survey garnering 1,100
survey results, and conveyed the results of the study in an interactive StoryMap.
Yakima Housing Action Plan. BERK is currently working with the City on their ESHB 1923
grant-funded housing action plan. Even through COVID-19 we developed an adaptive
engagement framework including engaging with the appointed Yakima Community
Integration Committee (CIC) to developan engagement lan.We also formed a Proveeaslstencia
g p de emergencia pare
technical HousingAdvisoryCommittee made upof trusted advocates, agencies, and kahaiadoreeagrtcciae I i
g , -- -
community members. Both the CIC and Technical Housing Advisory Committee have _. .._
been partners by networking, holding their own discussions with their constituent, and — _ __
getting the word out to groups who have not traditionally participated in planning „ , y N Re entplazaA,az
ds.t
processes. Another diverse community in Lynnwood
Snohomish County, BERK has developed a public engagement plan and Housing
Action
project logos, conducted online engagement with an advisory board, Plan
developed online open house and handout materials in multiple HOUSING
*irl
languages, and engaged in person (socially distant) with multicultural ['FOR ALL,
communities, made connections with local community members to help
share information about this project. One such effort included engagement
with the local Sikh community at temple services. We were able to connect directly with
community members and provide insights about the project. This sort of grassroots effort
might take a little while to produce the engagement numbers the City is looking for, but will
be a long-standing and successful relationship between the community and City staff for
years to come.
.ill PROPOSAL • SUBMITTED OCTOBER 27, 2020 35
