•
• nKLEINFELDER
•
2 SITE AND SUBSURFACE CONDITIONS
11,
2.1 GENERAL SITE DESCRIPTION
•
• The site is bounded by existing distribution centers to the north and south, Associated
Boulevard to the west, and a ready-mix concrete supplier to the east. The northern portion of
• the warehouse building is occupied by PODS; a commercial business providing moving and
• storage services. The site is relatively flat with drainage achieved by sheet flow over the existing
• pavement that is channeled into storm drain catchments roughly centered in the drive lanes of
the parking lots. Planter boxes and other landscaping features are distributed along the
• perimeter of the site that likely contribute to stormwater retention.
•• 2.2 VISUAL PAVEMENT ASSESSMENT
fra
• 2.2.1 Pavement Condition
•
• A Kleinfelder representative visited the site on 17 March 2020 to observe site pavement
• conditions and check for visual signs of distress or movement indicative of settlement,
. expansive soils, or poor compaction. Discussion of the pavement's current condition is provided
• below and pictures showing the pavement condition are presented in the Site Photograph Log in
• Appendix C.
• The Portland cement concrete (PCC) pad in the loading area east of the warehouse is in very
• good condition with a PASER rating of 8. The surrounding asphalt pavement is in good
condition with a PASER rating of 6. Portions of the east parking lot at the north and south ends
are in very poor to fair condition with PASER ratings of 2 and 4, respectively. The parking stall
• area at along the east perimeter of the site is very good condition with a PASER rating of 8. The
• proposed van parking area south of the warehouse is in very poor condition with a PASER
• rating of 2. The drive lane asphalt pavement in the middle of the associate parking area west of
• the warehouse is in poor condition while the pavement in the parking lot areas east and west of
• the drive lane is in very good condition.
•
• In asphalt areas with PASER ratings of 4 or less, pavement distress generally consisted of
• transverse and longitudinal cracks, alligator cracking, block cracking, and pavement raveling.
