If we are not accorded the privilege of performing •• this review, we can assume no responsibility for misinterpretation of our recommendations. • 5.2 CONSTRUCTION OBSERVATION AND TESTING • • The construction process is an integral design component with respect to the geotechnical • aspects of a project. Because geotechnical engineering is an inexact science due to the • variability of natural processes, and because we sample only a limited portion of the soils 411 affecting the performance of the proposed structure, unanticipated or changed conditions can •, be encountered during grading. Proper geotechnical observation and testing during construction • are imperative to allow the geotechnical engineer the opportunity to verify assumptions made • during the design process.
