New rooftop units require screening in accordance with EMC19.39.040.C: <br /> Rooftop Appurtenances, Required Screening. Vents, mechanical penthouses, elevator equipment and <br /> similar appurtenances that extend above the roofline shall be landscaped or architecturally screened, <br /> except for rod and wire antennas, and dish antennas approved pursuant to subsection A of this <br /> section. The height of the screening must be at least as high as the rooftop appurtenances. Screening <br /> shall consist of materials similar to those used for the building facade. (Ord. 2538-01§,66, 67, <br /> 2001; Ord. 2290-98§2, 1998; Ord. 1864-92§5, 1992; Ord. 1849-92§58, 1992; Ord. 1671-89 <br /> (part), 1989.) <br /> And Chapter 19.31B.070.E.4: <br /> Roof mounted mechanical equipment must be located and screened so the equipment is not visible <br /> within one hundred fifty feet of the structure when viewed from the ground level of adjacent streets or <br /> properties. Match the color of roof mounted equipment with the exposed color of the roof to minimize <br /> visual impacts when equipment is visible from higher elevations nearby. <br /> Please provide elevation drawings/screening details showing that the new/replacement rooftop units <br /> would be screened by the existing parapet in accordance with the above code sections. <br /> Response: Please see revised sheet A-301,showing the new RTUs relationship to the top of the <br /> existing parapet.The top of the new RTU will not be higher than the existing parapet. <br />
