• •
•
Mclivain
CRM Architects & Planners, Inc.
Plan Check Number: B1805-010, Second Review
December 4, 2018
f. The king studs shall be evaluated for additional out-of-plane loading from the headers.
The out-of-plane flexure shall be evaluated concurrently with axial loading. See NDS-15
Section 3.9.
g. The number of king and jamb studs required at each header is not clear. The drawings
shall clearly specify the number of studs required at the openings.
h. Multiple conflicting header details are provided on Sheet S-1.2. The details shall be
revised, including deleting unused details, as needed.
i. The short-span headers on Grid C have been designed considering the roof loading an
uniform. However, the headers support concentrated loads from a single roof truss.
The headers should be designed considering the concentrated loading at midspan for
flexure, and at the ends for shear and bearing.
See Structural Response letter
16.This comment has not been completely addressed. The steel beams have been revised to
glulam beams. The Roof Framing Plan on Sheet S-2.1 references Detail 12/S-1.2 at Grids
1/B and 4/B. Detail 12/S-1.2 references the plan for the beam-post connection. The
connection should be specified. See IBC Section 107.2.1.
See Structural Response letter
17. No additional comment.
18.This comment has not been completely addressed. The project appears to include a wood-
framed canopy at Grid A/3.9 per Sheet A5.1 and Detail 8/S7.0. See IBC Section 1604.1 and
1604.4. The following comments should be addressed:
a. No additional comment.
b. No additional comment.
c. No additional comment.
d. Calculations for the design of the studs, headers, blocking, and associated connections
supporting the canopy shall be provided for review. A limited analysis is provided on
calculation page 100 that does not include wind combined with other loads. The design
shall consider load combinations per IBC Equations 16-10, 16-12, and 16-13. The
directions of wind and snow loading, both on the roof and wall surfaces, shall be aligned
to create the maximum loading condition (i.e., up and down). The design shall consider
moments due to opposing trust loads in the canopy connections. The design shall
consider combined flexural-axial or biaxial bending as occurs for the supporting
members.
e. No additional comment.
See Structural Response letter
19. No additional comment.
Lateral System:
20. No additional comment.
21. No additional comment.
O0 3200 Cedar Street 0 425.257.8800 everettpw@everettwa.gov /
Everett,WA 98201 425.257.8882 fax O everettwa.gov fp -/ 5
