O
Mr. McItvain
CRM Architects&Planners, Inc.
Plan Check Number: B1805-010, Second Review
December 4, 2018
32.This comment has not been addressed. The revised drawings do not appear to include a
detail for the truss-to-beam connection. The trusses should be provided with a positive
horizontal connection to the beam. Alternatively, crossties may be provided interconnecting
the truss top chords. The connections shall provide a minimum capacity of 5% of the truss
dead and live load reaction at the support. The connections shall also provide wind uplift
resistance as required. See IBC Sections 1609.1 and 1613.1, and ASCE 7-10 Section 12.1.4.
See Structural Response letter
33.This comment has not been addressed. The response is not sufficient to clarify how the
comment was addressed. See IBC Sections 1603.1, 1604.1, 1604.4, 1609.1, and 1613.1.
The following comments should be addressed:
a. Horizontal connections to resist out-of-plane loading shall be provided.
b. Calculations substantiating the connections for out-of-plane loading, including but not
limited to wind leeward pressures, shall be submitted for review. The connections shall
also provide a minimum capacity of 5% of the truss dead and live load reaction at the
support per ASCE 7-10 12.1.4.
c. No additional comment.
See Structural Response letter
34.This comment has not been addressed. The response is not sufficient to clarify how the
comment was addressed. See IBC Sections 1603.1, 1604.1, 1604.4, and 1609.1. The
following comments should be addressed:
a. Details shall be provided for the out-of-plane connection between the walls and roof
diaphragm.
b. The diaphragm shall be provided with subdiaphragms and crossties of sufficient depth to
develop the wall loads into the diaphragm.
c. Calculations substantiating the connections for out-of-plane loading, including but not
limited to wind leeward pressures, shall be submitted for review.
d. No additional comment.
See Structural Response letter
Miscellaneous:
35.This comment has not been addressed. The response is not sufficient. The roof supports
heavy mechanical equipment per Sheet S-2.1. The equipment is expected to require
supplemental structural framing (e.g., curbs) and anchorage to the roof structure. Details
and calculations for the structural support of the equipment should be submitted for review.
Alternatively, the anchorage and support framing shall be listed in the Deferred Submittals
on Sheet S-1.0. See IBC Sections 1603.1, 1604.1, and 1613.1, and ASCE 7-10 Section 13.6.
See Structural Response letter
0
3200 Cedar Street 425.257.8800 everettpw@everettwa.gov
Everett,WA 98201 CD 425.257.8882 fax • everettwa.gov
