Hearing about the introduction of this ordinance sickened me. Essentially criminalizing homelessness this piece of legislation would kick out the unhoused community members around Smith Avenue and leave them with no where else to go —no shelter. Alongside criminalizing homelessness, the prohibition of the distribution of goods and services is beyond infuriating. Mutual aid — an act of solidarity that helps fulfill the resource needs that our own government doesn't fulfill —is essential to these people's well beings and quite frankly, keeps them alive. Where will all these people go if this ordinance is put into order? Who is going to provide these people with warm clothing, food, money —is the city of Everett going to do that? Thank you, Annie 1
