This ordinance criminalized houselessness <br />and mutual aid occurring at the Smith Avenue location in Everett, an area where many houseless people congregate <br />awaiting social services and resources. Criminalizing people who are houseless is immoral and unjust. Criminalizing <br />houseless people without establishing housing and other social services will simply relocate those without resources to a <br />different area. This Ordinance does not address the root causes of houselessness Criminalizing houseless people is also <br />a form of violence. Encouraging police enforcement for those without houses or resources encourages violence and <br />oftentimes death due to the lack of social training for police officers dealing with the communal and social crisis of <br />houselessness. <br />Thank you for your time and consideration to oppose Ordinance CB 2102-06. <br />Regards, <br />Emily Yarsinske <br />1 <br />
