Deb Williams
From: Sonja Bodge <sonjabodge@gmail.com>
Sent: Wednesday, March 03, 2021 3:56 PM
To: DL-Council
Cc: Sonja Bodge
Subject: CB 2102-06
Hello,
Because of the City of Everett's intent to erect homeless pallet housing behind the Everett Gospel Mission, I am in favor
of a no sit no lie ordinance for the proposed area.
After my husband & I investigated the cost of building a garage on our property in the Delta Neighborhood, we decided
to buy from Tuff Shed. We looked at their website to determine approximate cost & design but really you have to go
down there to the office to finalize these plans. We made an appointment to meet with Scott at Tuff Shed As we
approached their front door a woman who is clearly homeless yelled at us, pointing behind the offices of Tuff Shed, to
say there is a dead body back there. We ignored her & pressed on.
She continued to trespass at the front door of Tuff Shed's door. She kept up her antics, opening the door making Scott
go tell her to please leave. I watched as she messed around with her pants took her shirt off, & got a real nice shot of
her "hoo hoo". Scott of Tuff Shed was very kind & patient because he's used to it.
These Mentally III, Drug Addicted, Urban Campers are sad, disruptive, & just plain gross. I don't like going down there
but I had to in order to deal with Tuff Shed. It is unfair to the businesses & homeowners that the sidewalks are covered
with junk, garbage, stolen bikes mentally ill people yelling, laying around, & such.
Normal people who experience homelesness are not rolling out of the blackberries, covered in filth, roaming the streets
unchecked. Normal people experiencing homelessness want help & actively look for services.
As a business owner in the City of Everett, I do fear the ordinance may push Urban Campers North near my business.
However, I'm willing to accept that, in the hopes that things will get better I think it is high time that the City require
that Urban Campers stop camping illegally all over the place & be responsible for themselves like the rest of us do. Let's
separate the Mentally III & the Drug Addicted from Normal People experiencing homelessness. This ordinance may be
the first step.
Thank you,
Sonja Bodge
1
