At least one sample was tested from each of the borings, but up to five
samples were tested from borings where field screening results indicated the presence of
Ipetroleum hydrocarbons.
All downhole sampling tools were decontaminated prior to use at the site by steam cleaning.
I Additional decontamination of the split spoon samplers was conducted between sampling
intervals by scrubbing the samplers with a stiff brush in a detergent solution followed by
rinsing in clean, potable water. Samples selected for laboratory analysis were transferred from
I the split spoon samplers directly into laboratory prepared glass sample jars in preparation for
laboratory analysis. These samples were then placed immediately into a chilled cooler and
subsequently transported to our subcontracted laboratory for analysis. Chain-of-custody
Iprocedures were maintained during transportation to document sample integrity.
I During our initial study in January 2009, each of the selected soil samples was tested for
gasoline-range total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH) by State Method NWTPH-Gx, for diesel-
and motor-oil-range TPH by State Method NWTPH-Dx, and for benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene
I
August 24, 2009 ASSOCIATED EARTH SCIENCES, INC.
ITJP/tb-KV090168A5-Projects120090168IKVIWP Page 7
